My mom and brother live just west of Jax...but well inland...the only problem I believe they will have is a lot of water...but the house is built up high enough...Unless its hit by a tornado, they should be fine...coastal Jax and south, need to move inland...

I worked for a company that had an office in Dania and flew down a few times a year, but that was another life ago. Sooooooooooo.................... Hang on!

I'm sorry to jorg and the others living in FL who are being hit by this massive storm. I've been caught up in my own family issues the last week or so and feel as though I'm living in a fog at present.
I am praying for all those affected and hope you'll check in and let us know how you're faring.

I am from Bradenton/Sarasota....but, my brother has lived in north Florida for years after he finished the contract to build the JAX airport...mom is 92, and there's no one left in B'ton that is family, so about 8 years or so, she moved up there...My brother built on and extension to his home...quite nice really..

Thankfully, so far the eye wall is staying off shore. Although, conditions are bad, they could be worse. Jacksonville may get hit pretty good.

Sorry folks, been busy playing with my grand daughter after some awesome answered prayer.
Ol Matthew wasn't no bother here in central FLA. I'm Not sure we e en got an inch of rain. Wind was barely enough to blow twigs out of my tree and not many of them. Still, the east coast got a hard hit that could have been much much worse. Family in Jacksonvile did just fine and are recovering well. Reports I here tell us power should be restored to all eat coast by Monday. Good news there.
Peace y'all. Thanks for thinkin of us. One of these days I'll see Rec and tell her to join in. Hell, she may even know where the snake crawled off too. LOL

LOL I have a report from my brother-in-law in the Dominican Republic that the hacienda made it through without anything major...mostly water from the rains, but did not flood anywhere on the property...

I have a question for the Florida folks. Does anyone know how pregnant Floridians deal with the threat of Zika? I have a friend who had booked a Bahamas cruise earlier this year. She recently found out she was pregnant and after informing her doctor that she was going on this cruise, he strongly advised her to avoid all tropical locations, especially Florida due to the threat of Zika. Hence, my question... do OB/GYN's just tell pregnant Floridians to stay indoors and avoid mosquitos at all costs, move north, or what?

The only part of Florida that I have read about is in an around Miami...There's now a large Haitian community there and if I recall, that was the area they are referring....but, someone correct me if I am wrong.
