Dreamers were brought here through no fault of their own as young children, they were raised here and taught in our schools many have college degrees and know nothing of their home country.
should congress officially authorize Deferred Action Against Childhood Arrivals program maybe with a requirement that those in the program hold a job and contribute to the country and disallow them access to government funded services such as welfare (Medicaid, etc) for the duration that they are in the DACA program and require that they apply for citizenship and require that they have no felonies (exempt the illegal immigration which is a felony) on their record and that they remain on good behavior for the duration they are in DACA.

Tough call. First of all, if they were brought here as a child, they are not a citizen.Establish a merit based system to become one. I agree that felons, gang members and such should leave.

I totally agree, hoofie. John Doe, I also agree that it is congress that should decide (until then, DACA is unlawful)

I think they should shielded from deportation and their path to citizenship (if they desire it) should expedited in proportion to the amount of time they have been in the U.S.
This is an issue that almost everybody understands the same way. According to polls, 80% of the public nationwide believes the “dreamers” should not be deported.
I'm not convinced it was a good idea for Democrats to choose this as the issue on which to take a stand in the shutdown debate. Even if they get a temporary protection of the dreamers, I think Trump and the Republicans in Congress are eventually going to deport them anyway.

I don't see the responsible ones being deported. My biggest question is how did they attend school without being documented? I can't see my doctor without an ID.
Also, if they do get 'fast tracked' the quota from their country of origin should be reduced accordingly for that time period.
