Had to find a new image host as Photobucket is changing hosting rules.
Tuesday, drove to Ft Smith, AR by way if Shreveport, LA and Texarkana. Wednesday, caught I-40 drove across Oklahoma, through Oklahoma City then spent the night in Amarillo, TX. Thursday, entered New Mexico, had high winds 30 MPH with 60 MPH gusts all the way through Albuquerque, and into Arizona. When we arrived in Flagstaff it was 45F with cold rain. Friday morning was 35F but little wind. We were at approx 7300 feet of elevation, drove 60 miles north the the Grand Canyon. Saw the sights, but weren't dressed to hike very far, and to be honest, we didn't plan to go to the Canyon until the last minute. In fact, it snowed when we were leaving. Dropped 3500 feet of elevation between Flagstaff and Phoenix, and, thankfully, gained 40F in temperature from Phoenix to Tucson. Saturday, saw lots of desert and cacti, then rocks & hills in south New Mexico (Las Cruces) and southwest Texas. Got caught up in a US Border Patrol check point just east of El Paso, come to find out that there are over 2000 illegal border crossings per day in the El Paso corridor. Cruised at 80 MPH for 5 or so hours between El Paso and San Antonio, where we spent Saturday night. Sunday, went through San Antonio and Houston on the way back to Lafayette, LA.
