Ya know. I'm really sick of this "chit" with the T'Town Newspaper. They literally have us by the *****. Every morning, for many years, we woke up to read the local news. Now we can't even learn about important issues without paying for it. The City of Tuscaloosa started a notification system. Could we read about it? Noooooo~~~ There are events going on with ground breakings and events. Can we find out about them? Noooooo~~~~~ I check the front page on line every morning, to see what the headlines are, and then I have to go digging around the net to get the rest of the information. Or, depend on the generosity of friends who happen to post it on on Facebook. This goes way beyond the Forum. Which, BTW, I haven't posted on since the day they started charging. I'm really fed up with the whole thing. Having worked for an advertising ageny, an advertising rep and paid for advertising as a business owner, I have an idea the kinda bucks that pass though their hands. They should get enough bucks from advertising to keep the online version going if they aren't there's something wrong with that picture. They claim budget. I say corporate selfishness. I've really held my tongue, to a point, because I have friends who work there. I have a great deal of respect for the reporters, I've come to know though the years and call friend, and I hate the place their employers decisions has put them in. But, I'm really getting frustrated with the whole thing. I think the straw that broke the camels back is not being able to read the stories about the anniversary of the tornado. I wonder if there's such a thing as "newspaper rage". Well, maybe not "rage" but one hell of a lot of pissoffishness" and frustration.

Yeah, I got one in the driveway this morning. But, it isn't worth a crap. Front page of news. One page of calendar. One page of sports. Two pages of classifieds Two FULL center pages of how to get the T'Town News. One page of Home Accents ads And a couple of inserts.
The headlines today include... County taps Swinford to lead schools Security firm owner facs drug charges A cool invention - Holy Sprirt students solar cooler County jobless rate at 6 percent Judy Collins to perform
As far as I'm concerned they can do away with that free weekly thing that doesn't nothing but clog up the landscape. I might miss the paper I use to wash the windows with though.

I can get to the forum but I can't get to any of the articles at all. That dang thing pops up demanding payment. Looks like if I'm going to be able to read the newpaper, with all the anniversary stories this weekend, I'll have to break down and get one outta the box. Just roasts my cookies and totally pisses me off that I have to do that.

Do like we did fifty years ago -- ride your bicycle the half mile to the produce market, pay a dime, bring it home along with bag of stuff on the list your Mama gave you, put it on the kitchen table, and go outside and play army with Johnny, Phil and the new Baker guy until the sun said it might be getting about dinner time to home to get a baloney and cheese sandwich and some cookies. Probably a nap, then read the paper with Daddy when he got home from work.

However, being that age that I am I don't know that your idea would be very practical.
