I just wanted to accentuate the bizarre and ridiculous in your own statement: That none of what happened really mattered in your world, even though four innocent people died. You never even considered that one of those four innocent dead people could have been you, just minding your own business walking across campus.
But, because it didn't happen to you: NEVER MIND!
You fulfilled all my expectations; Thank you. No, you can get off by simply offering up that equivalent of I'm just saying...I didn't have any more angst over that incident than a billion Chinese, Bolivians, Kenyans, and Floridians did. You think they cared? I didn't care either. It had absolutely zero to do with me and everything I was working on. It couldn't have been more unrelated. And it remains that way today. And no, you're very wrong, none of those innocent people could've been me. I never took part in any protests nor was I ever present where armed soldiers had been deployed. I never even saw any protests or armed soldiers. Yet I walked across campus for years during that period. Again, you should seriously consider stepping away from the computer and clearing your head with thoughts of other things, for a few days. Seriously So as not to confuse the issue, or to be blinded by the typical right wing tactic of throwing sand in your eyes by bringing up inconsequential side issues, let's do go back to what you originally said: OK? That's what you said; we're clear on that? Now, let's move on from there. 1) Wasn't MY business; 2) I had my own issues (which obviously didn't include being shot and killed while doing nothing wrong); 3) (I would have inserted your third issue here - school - but that doesn't matter anymore, does it -- because if you were one of them, you would be dead.) Walking along, crack, then ... Nope, not my business. I have my own issues. Let the dead bury the dead.

Seriously How anyone could have grown up in the times we did and, based on your posts, have the attidude that you did is just appauling to me. Did you live in a bubble? We were in a war and you sat with your nose in a book and ignored it. Ya know...I think you're pulling my leg because my sensibility rejects the possibility that anyone could have that much indifference, self importance and lack of apathy.

I Didn't try to buy the world a Coke, either.
The notion that I did something wrong for not attending the funerals is beyond stupid.
The Kent State event simply had nothing to do with me.
I don't wring my hands over the random IRA bombings in London, either, but I was closer to that as I did walk the streets of London a good bit during that period. I stood a greater chance of being blown up there than shot on campus at Bama. College students didn't run any risk of being shot, walking between classes on a thousand campuses. Those who held a confrontation with armed soldiers on one particular campus did run that risk. I'm not wringing my hands over the atrocities committed by Pol Pot, either. These are events that involved other parties in other places, totally unconnected and unrelated me.
Bad things have always happened and always will, and I'm not going to sit around and wring my hands over unfortunate events that I simply hear about.
In 1995, did y'all attend the funerals of the Oklahoma City bombing victims? Why not?
This whole issue and conversation is plain ludicrous.

How sad how very very sad. LOL How silly. It's too bad those student were killed at Kent State. It's a shame that the personnel at the Benghazi Consulate were killed. Is one more sacrosanct than the other? I can't do anything about either one. Both events lie totally outside of my purview.

I remember asking about the star decals in neighborhood windows. Some houses had 2 or 3 displayed.
