I started 1st Grade in 1962 and graduated high school in 1974. I don't ever recall school being dismissed because of bad weather. The only time we ever missed school for weather was if snow was already on the ground several inches deep (rare in Tuscaloosa) when we awoke, and Mama made the command decision that this was a day NOT to go to school. You're really too old to even be on the internet,,,its for the living....

"Duck and cover"? I thought that was for an atomic attack? It was but kids are learning this in schools now for "T" drills. That would probably be more effective for a tornado than an atomic attack.

After watching that film again, after all these years, I was floored that the propaganda they were handing out at the time. Was it purposely giving false sense of secuity or did they just not know better. I can't imagine that they didn't.

The only good thing about the overnighters is that they lack the punch of storms that have all day to heat up and grow.
