Thanks, Q. This kinda stuff plain scares me. I've seen several of the weather reports. Better be safe, and prepared, than sorry by blowing it off. No pun intended.

Still waiting for word from County Schools. I hope they decide before the weather actually hits.

Statement just in from County Schools:
It has been brought to our attention that the Tuscaloosa City School System will be dismissing today at 11:00 a.m. This decision does not affect the plan that was put into place yesterday.
After hearing from David Hartin (EMA) this morning, the bad weather should arrive around 11:00 a.m. and should be clearing by mid afternoon. This time of arrival does not give us enough time to get buses ready and students home.
Therefore, as stated yesterday we will continue to monitor the situation and it may be necessary to delay dismissal, but we will continue to give you guidance throughout the day.
Dan B. Butler Interim Superintendent

Why do moms not want their kids in schools when bad weather is coming? Schools are built much better than 99% of homes.

We check out and go to our safe place. And I like to get a head start, not wait until the weather hits.

Delaying dismissal is great thinking!! Leave a bunch of people in the cars in the middle of a storm waiting longer than they already have to get their kids that are being held hostage by a bunch of teachers and then pack the buses full and rush them all home on slick roads…EFFING GENIUS!!
I've dealt with the "delayed dismissal" crap before and if they had just let the kids go when they were supposed to, we would've avoided all the rain and hassle but they held them over for 30 minutes and wound up letting them go in the middle of the storm because the storm was over for other parts of the county but not for us.
